Am I English Test: Find Out If You’re English by Ancestry

Am I English?

Were your mother and father English?

You’ve just taken the “Am I English?” test – and hopefully had a laugh in the process.

The point of this little tool isn’t to issue passports or judge anyone’s worth. It’s to cut through the endless online shouting about “who’s allowed” to be English and remind people of two simple truths:

  • There is such a thing as the historic English people – the English Constitution test of “were your mother and father English?” still means something.
  • It’s also perfectly fine not to be English by ancestry and still live here, respect this country and stand with the English.

Right now, grown adults are tying themselves in knots pretending they can’t tell the difference between British (a civic label for the UK state) and English (a nation and ethnicity rooted in this land). Whole channels are built on that confusion because outrage and fake simplicity pay the bills.

This app is my way of saying: enough of the silliness. We can admit Englishness is real, we can accept that not everyone is English, and we can still treat each other decently.

If you enjoyed this, share your result on your favourite social media and start a proper conversation about what “English” really means today – with honesty and a bit of humour, not hysteria.
